Normal language development and delayed language development

Normal language development and delayed language development

• Language development continues from birth until the age of 18.

• Here, we take a more detailed look at normal language development, especially from birth to 6 years old, through various literature.

• Learn about language delays and their causes.

• The most common cause of language delay is physiological language delay, in which language development is normally delayed.

• Speech development may be delayed in infants and young children with childhood autism.

• Other deaf or handicapped children may have delayed speech development or may become mute, unable to speak at all. Any other physical, mental, genetic, or intellectual abnormality can delay speech development. In the following cases, it is suspected that there is a delay in language development in infants and young children.

① By 5 to 6 months of age, infants are hoarse and unable to speak

② Until 8-9 months of age, if infants cannot make “da” and “ba” sounds, or

③ Until age 10-11 month, the infant cannot say “Dada” or “Baba” or

④ By the age of 18 months, the infant is unable to speak by using 3 or more meaningful words, or

⑤ By the age of 2, the infant is unable to speak or repeat a clause with two words, or

⑥ By the age of two and a half, the infant is unable to speak using at least one pronoun, or ⑦ By the age of three and a half, children can only understand half of what they say, or

⑧ By the age of 4, infants cannot understand prepositions or

⑨ If you cannot use proper syntax in short sentences by the age of 5, it is good to consider that there is a language development disorder or delay in language development.
